According to the DSM-IV, PMDD is characterized by a range of symptoms including severe depression, anxiety, mood swings, and irritability. Other common symptoms may include a disinterest in daily activities, trouble focusing, fatigue, changes in appetite, sleep disturbances, and feelings of losing control. Physical manifestations can involve breast tenderness, headaches, joint pain, bloating, and weight gain, typically surfacing during the luteal phase and subsiding shortly after menstruation begins. Healthcare professionals diagnose PMDD by following DSM-IV guidelines, evaluating symptoms over at least two menstrual cycles while ruling out other cyclical mood disorders.
Please note that Yaz has not been studied for PMS treatment.
**How to Take Yaz:** For maximum effectiveness, take one tablet daily at the same time. Skipping doses or incorrect usage may increase the risk of contraceptive failure. To experience the full benefits for contraception and PMDD, it?s essential to follow the instructions on the blister pack. If you miss a pill, take it as soon as you remember.
**Starting Yaz:** Begin your Yaz regimen either on the first day of your menstrual period (Day 1 Start) or on the first Sunday following the start of your menstrual cycle (Sunday Start).
